Learning when the sun's out

Holidays are for slowing down and lazing in the sun. Unless you're like me - my Belfast skin hates the hot weather! Or a teacher frantically getting ready for the new term.
"It's the holidays, I don't want to do homework," is the cry from young people up and down the country. But learning can be done when the sun's out. The challenge for adults is to keep young minds active during the Summer, without compromising on fun.
We have a few ideas that might help -
Writing
Encourage creative writing or funny diary entries over the Summer to keep those writing muscles active. If you're looking for inspiration, we've been posting regular story prompts on our social media accounts.
Reading
Organise a reading challenge or book swap with friends and keep your young person reading during the Summer.
Or have 'book battles' to find out who can choose the most gripping read.
Use the links below to go back to previous blogs to get Summer reading recommendations.
Studying
Try a 'choose your own' study pack to make revision seem more like a challenge and give your young person ownership of their education.
Have a grammar challenge disguised as a game.
If you need help
We have structured student-led resources that can fit round holiday plans and keep students working without sacrificing fun.
Good luck!
