Mr L's 15-page study guide includes explanation, exercises, quiz and answers. It aslo includes an A4 colour poster as an aide memoire to remind students of the features of writing to recount.

Writing to recount helps students develop their narrative skills.  They learn to structure a story or an event in a logical sequence, then communicate their thoughts and experiences clearly and vividly, which is essential for clear and effective storytelling.  Recount writing also encourages students to recall past experiences and reflect on them.  This reflection helps deepen their understanding of those experiences and lessons learned.

Mr L’s Non-Fiction Writing to Recount Study Guide is an ideal tool for teaching Key Stage 3 students about this non-fiction style of writing for the first time, and for Key Stage 4 students revising for their GCSE English Language exam.
